Loop 360’s Lakewood Drive/Spicewood Springs Road

Project: The project will improve safety and mobility by removing traffic signals from the main lanes and constructing an overpass at Lakewood Drive and Spicewood Springs Road, as well as removing the original signal on the main lanes at west Spicewood Springs Road.

Update: According to Texas Department of Transportation officials, construction is contingent on funding and anticipated to begin as early as 2029.

Burnet Road Mobility Program

Project: The project will feature updated traffic signals, improved crossings, bus stop improvements, trail connections, curb extensions, drainage improvements, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant shared-use paths, raised medians and more on Burnet Road from White Horse Trail to US 183 (C2), Bright Verde Way to MoPac (C3) and US 183 to Bright Verde Way (C4).

Update: According to city officials, as of Feb. 2 the construction contract for C2 has been awarded and work is expected to begin this month once the city issues a Notice to Proceed.

Project:

The project will add one high-occupancy vehicle lane in each direction along I-35 between SH 45 North and US 290 East, reconstruct bridges, relocate and reconstruct entrance and exit ramps, add pedestrian and bicycle paths and make other safety and mobility improvements.

Update: According to TxDOT, as of Dec. 23 crews are widening the frontage roads to three lanes in each direction throughout the corridor. Utility relocations and upgrades are also ongoing, with several already completed. Crews have already completed new main lane bridge decks at Rundberg Lane, Little Walnut Creek, Walnut Creek, Wells Branch Parkway and Grand Avenue Parkway.

Project: The project will remove traffic signals from main lanes, construct an underpass at Courtyard Drive, reconfigure RM 2222 to include a diverging diamond interchange, and add shared-use paths and sidewalks.

Update: TxDOT officials said excavation is ongoing for the west cliffs by the southbound lanes.

183 North Mobility Project northbound direct connector

Project: The project includes the construction of two express lanes in each direction on US 183, a general-purpose lane to bring the number of nontolled lanes to four in each direction, new shared use path connections, new sidewalks and cross-street connections for bicycles and pedestrians.

Update: According to the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, the northbound direct connector opened Jan. 31 following the opening of the express lanes Jan. 2. The southbound express lanes and direct connector are slated to open in the coming months, although timelines are subject to change.
