Dallas firefighters rescued two people who were trapped Tuesday night in a house fire, officials say.

According to Dallas Fire Rescue, crews were called at about 8:52 p.m. to the one-story home in the 3100 block of Modella Avenue.

Upon arrival, officials say crews saw heavy fire coming from the front of the house. Firefighters immediately began work to rescue the two people reported trapped inside. Both of the victims were extracted and taken to a local hospital due to smoke exposure.

Officials say the woman was reported in stable condition, but the man was in critical condition and CPR was performed on him while he was being taken. His current condition isn’t known.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire, declaring it extinguished at 9:20 p.m., officials said. No other injuries were reported.

DFR is investigating the cause of the fire.
