MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – The Red Raiders are celebrating their record-breaking football season with fans across the Lone Star State.
The Green Tree Country Club hosted the first stop of the Wreck ‘Em Tour. Head Football Coach Joey McGuire, Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt and Board of Regents Chairman Cody Campbell were just some of the featured speakers.
The tour is an opportunity for the fan base to hear about key initiatives within the athletics program and support philanthropic groups like Red Raider and Matador Club.
Most importantly, it gives people like McGuire and Hocutt the chance to thank supporters in places like Midland.
“This is the heartbeat of Texas Tech and the Permian Basin has done so much for this university,” said Joey McGuire. “I really want to win for this fan base. I mean, you have such a passionate fan base.”
Hocutt said, “The turnout and level of support we get from Midland-Odessa every year is just incredible. This feels like home in so many ways and the generosity and support from this community is very special.”
Seven of the 22 members of the Texas Tech Athletic Directors Circle, one of the university’s highest paying donor groups, call the Permian Basin home.
This was the first stop of the Wreck ‘Em Tour. Texas Tech will make its next stop on February 17 in Dallas.
