Call it a modern loaves-and-fishes moment: Whataburger is bringing back its Whatacatch fish sandwich just in time for Lent.
The sandwich and fish platter returns to menus Feb. 17 — Fat Tuesday — and will be available for a limited run through April 6, the company announced Monday.
The Whatacatch sandwich is built around a fried wild-caught Alaskan pollock fillet, breaded with seasoned panko and served on a bun with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce. Customers can customize the sandwich with add-ons like American cheese or creamy pepper sauce.
For a heartier option, the Whatacatch Platter includes two crispy fish fillets served with fries and a side of tartar sauce, with jalapeños available for extra heat.
The sandwich is priced at $9.49 as part of a meal with fries and a drink, while the platter meal costs $11.99. Prices may vary by location.
The Lenten favorite is available for dine-in, curbside pickup and delivery through Whataburger’s website and mobile app. The chain says customers who download the app and create an account receive a free Whataburger and begin earning rewards points.
