Who would’ve thought that sitting in the middle of Corpus Christi, Texas, is an authentic Italian restaurant?

I didn’t even mean to find this place. One minute I’m in Corpus walking around the Trade Center, the next minute I’m ordering freshly made pasta.

Welcome to Trattoria Mamma Lina

A quiet little spot nestled between a whiskey library and an Italian bar & restaurant is Trattoria Mamma Lina. It’s small, it’s intimate, and it might be your new date night spot. As soon as I walked through the doors, it felt like I was transported out of Corpus and straight into Italy.

The lights were dim, and the decor really brought the place to life. Adorable artificial ivy hung from the ceiling and for some reason, it created a familiar level of comfort. As nice as the aesthetic and ambiance were, it’s the food and drinks that keep me up at night.

The pasta tasted fresh, like fresh, fresh. The menu claims it’s all made from scratch, and I believe it! Individually, white sauces and pasta scare me, but the thought of having the two combined is pure terror. So, naturally, that’s exactly what I ordered, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Have you ever taken a bite of something and just had to pause and savor the moment?

The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the mascarpone sauce was not heavy or drowning in cheese.  If I’m being honest, the food was 10/10, but it was the drinks that blew me away.

When it comes to alcohol, I have the most unsophisticated palate.

After dinner and drinks were all cleared out, the meal ended in true Italian fashion: washing it all down with a post-meal cappuccino. I spent nearly 2 hours at Trattoria Mamma Lina, only leaving once I realized it was about 15 minutes past closing time(so sorry to our wonderful waitress!)

I refuse to gatekeep hidden these types of hidden gems and look forward to my next quaint find!

On a side note, this is not a paid advertisement or sponsorship; I was just really blown away, ha!
