Let’s get to know Connor Huang, the winner of our January/February cover contest.

Connor is a sixth grader at Frisco ISD’s Wortham Intermediate School. According to his family, he enjoys doodling and playing basketball in his free time and spends his weekends hanging out and making crafts with his family. Congrats Connor!

What got you interested in art?

I have always been interested in graphic design, and I started taking art classes at a very young age. Through the years, I have developed an abstract/realism combo in my art.

What is your inspiration behind the cover you designed?

The cover I designed was meant to show that Plano was very streamlined and developed. I used the DART Silver Line as my main element. I showcased color pencil technique and micro pens to develop a realism feel.

Our art contest was called Plano Through My Eyes. What does your art show about things you enjoy in Plano?

I actually grew up in Plano, and I moved to McKinney at the age of 4, but I have numerous happy memories of Plano’s nature trails, playgrounds and libraries.

What are your interests besides art?

I do debate and public speaking, play basketball, and I am on a swim team.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be a business consultant, and/or a lawyer, or a graphics designer.
