AUSTIN, Texas — Austin firefighters recently responded to a vehicle fire in South Austin, preventing what officials say could have become a much more dangerous situation.

According to the Austin Firefighters Association, crews made “quick work” of the blaze earlier this week. Vehicle fires can pose serious risks to civilians, including rapid flame spread, toxic smoke, exploding components and exposure to nearby structures or vehicles.

The association emphasized the importance of fast response times and highly trained firefighters when dealing with these types of incidents.

“When seconds count, preparation, experience, and teamwork make the difference in keeping our community safe,” the organization said in a statement.

The association also thanked a community member, identified as @photosbykiann, for capturing photos of firefighters in action during the response.

Travis County is currently under a burn ban for unincorporated areas as dry conditions continue to fuel wildfire concerns across Central Texas.
