The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly finalizing a decision on Jeremy Sochan.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the organization is cutting ties with its former top 10 pick. Sochan will hit the open market to get an opportunity to discuss deals with other interested suitors. Per Charania’s report, Sochan has “multiple interested teams.”

This season has been a new low for Sochan, who has been in the NBA since 2022. In 28 games, he averaged just 12.8 minutes off the bench. He is shooting 47 percent from the field on just 3.5 attempts per game. The 22-year-old forward posted averages of 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds with the Spurs before his release.

The last time the Spurs utilized Sochan was during their February 7 matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. At the time, he checked in for just under four minutes of action, as the Spurs collected a 138-125 win.

Leading up to the trade deadline, the Spurs were expected to shop Sochan around, but nothing materialized. San Antonio ended up being one of the quietest teams in the league when it comes to making deals. It speaks to their confidence, as they sit second in the Western Conference behind the Oklahoma City Thunder by 3.5 games.

In the past, Sochan played an important role for the Spurs. Since being a rookie, Sochan averaged over 20 minutes of action. Through his first three seasons, Sochan posted averages of 11.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists, while he shot 46 percent from the field.

When he entered the league, he was a ninth-overall pick out of Baylor. He played just one season with the Bears, appearing in 30 games. Before that, Sochan played pro overseas in Germany.

It’s unclear which teams could pursue Sochan at this time, but the young forward is looking forward to getting a fresh start for the first time in his NBA career.
