Tournament Central/Live Scoring
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The first tournament of the spring is in the books and it was a strong first showing for the UT Arlington women’s golf team. The Mavericks finished second as a team and were led by Kamri Gabel who finished in a tie for second individually.
UTA as a team finished 16-over-par, five strokes behind tournament winner UTEP.
Matching her effort in round two, Gabel turned in a 1-under-par 70 that featured six birdies to cap off her tournament. The senior was one of just four players out of a field of 84 that finished below par.
Gabel’s tournament score of a 2-under-par 211 was just one back of UTEP’s Amelia Fridlund for the lead.
The Mavericks had another finisher in the top 10. Nitisha Manikandesh carded a 3-over-par 74 in her final round, finishing 4-over-par for the tournament.
Along with Gabel and Manikandesh, two other UTA players also finished in the top 20. Chandler Browning matched Manikandesh’s round, carding a 3-over 74 of her own that included 15 pars. The redshirt senior finished in 11th place at 4-over-par.
Tarini Bhoga moved up four spots to 20th after a 4-over 75. The sophomore was the only Maverick to birdie the eighth hole. Nirjara Gulhane capped off the UTA lineup. The junior finished in 68th after an 11-over par 82.
