I really enjoyed the graphic art decor in Overeasy. It added to the nostalgic feel of the interior.

DALLAS — The older, I mean more mature I get, the more convenience matters. So, when I found out there was a popular breakfast spot right across the street from one of my favorite hotels, it was a no-brainer to walk the few steps over to try it out.

Located just a couple of hours from The Great Place in the historic and stylish Statler Hilton Hotel downtown, Overeasy blends the nostalgic charm of a 1950s diner with modern culinary ingenuity.

My French toast came gussied up with powdered sugar and berries at Overeasy in Dallas. I loved the tart contrast of the fruit with the sweetness of the syrup.

The interior offered stools at the bar where patrons got a bird’s eye view of the inner workings of the kitchen, cozy booths by the windows and spacious tables.

I grabbed a stool at the bar because I was alone and wanted to get the full diner experience.

While Overeasy has a reputation for its food, it’s equally popular for its java. It serves a variety of specialty drinks such as coffee, tea, cocktails and juice. I ordered a chai latte to enjoy while I skimmed the menu.

Known for its all-day breakfast and lunch fare, Overeasy features classics that emphasize comfort and creativity.

Whether you indulge your savory cravings with salmon toast on rye bread with smoked salmon, whipped dill cream cheese, pickled onion and fried capers, or your sweet tooth with a giant cinnamon roll with maple brown sugar glaze and candied pecans, you won’t go wrong here.

But if traditional breakfast offerings are more of your jam, try the buttermilk pancakes, French toast, brisket hash or the western omelet.

Lunch and dinner include finger foods like deviled eggs, fried pickles and cheese fries, and entrees that remind you of home like the turkey club, meatloaf dinner and grilled cheese and tomato soup.

I wanted breakfast and was craving sweet, so I ordered the French toast with a side of warm syrup. It was delicious and the berries were a nice contrast to the sweetness of the syrup.

Overall, Overeasy gives comfort food with casual vibes.

I enjoyed my initial visit and went back to try the cinnamon roll and the patty melt, both of which I enjoyed.

Convenient location, relaxed atmosphere and delicious food are what Overeasy offers.

It is open daily from 6 a.m.-midnight weekdays and 7 a.m.-midnight weekends, and the entire menu is available all day.

I recommend breakfast for dinner — it just tastes better after dark.
