SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Northside Independent School District is mourning the loss of one of its own.
KSAT-12 reports a 16-year-old football player at Stevens High School died after passing out during a practice. The district says the student passed out on Tuesday, at which point he was hospitalized. The student later died at the hospital shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
The student had no known medical conditions, and it is reported the coach went with him to the hospital and stayed throughout the evening.
Northside ISD confirms an investigation is underway.
The district says counselors are available to help students affected by the tragedy.
Northside ISD has now lost four high school students in a span of about four weeks.
