Texas A&M’s 2027 receiving class continues to make significant headway with every prospect head coach Mike Elko and his staff have contacted, already receiving a prediction to land five-star edge Zyron Forstall, while five-star offensive lineman Kennedy Brown will reportedly choose between the Aggies and Oregon, and take his 13th visit to College Station this spring.
Over the past month, Mike Elko has made several key staff changes, elevating five coaches to new positions, including ace recruiters and nickels coach Bryant Gross-Armiento, who will now serve as Texas A&M’s cornerbacks coach heading into the 2026 season.
Already receiving substantial praise from incoming five-star CB Brandon Arrington, Gross-Armiento will now be tasked with securing a commitment from one of the Aggies’ primary cornerback targets in the 2027 cycle. On Wednesday, it was revealed that four-star cornerback Taelyn Mayo out of Lewisville, Texas, placed the Aggies in his final five program list, joining LSU, Oregon, Ohio State, and the Texas Longhorns.
Among his five finalists, LSU, Ohio State, and Texas A&M reportedly stand out the most, as Mayo provided brief summaries for all three programs during his conversation with Rivals recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett. Here’s why the Aggies are one of his current leaders:
“Texas A&M is a school I’m seriously considering because of the coaching staff, top-tier facilities, and the strong family atmosphere they’ve built within the program and a program that pushes players to always dominate at the highest level.”

Texas A&M’s athletic facilities have certainly become the main attraction, especially the Bright Football Complex, which has produced a long list of current NFL starters, while it was revealed on Wednesday that a record 13 Texas A&M players were invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.
Mayo’s 6’4″, 185-pound frame makes him a perfect fit in Mike Elko and new defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill’s defense, built on man coverage, and he has a chance to become a five-star prospect heading into his senior season.
According to Rivals, Mayo is currently positioned as the 13th-ranked cornerback and the 21st-ranked prospect in Texas.
