A fuel truck carrying about 9,000 gallons of gasoline caught fire on the Gulf Freeway early Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, according to the Houston Fire Department.
Southbound lanes on Interstate 45 near Bay Area Boulevard were shut down Thursday morning after a fuel truck caught fire on the freeway, according to the Houston Fire Department.
The truck was carrying about 9,000 gallons of gasoline, according to the fire department, which said in a social media post that no injuries were reported.
“But cleanup continues, so lanes will remain shut down until completed,” the fire department wrote in its post a little before 7 a.m.

The fire started at about 2:30 a.m., according to the fire department.
The Texas Department of Transportation said its crews were on the scene assisting with cleanup efforts.
Houston TranStar encouraged impacted motorists to find alternate routes and monitor traffic conditions at its website.
