Lubbock Christian School names Sam Collins head football coach

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The state champion Lubbock Christian School Eagles have a new head football coach.

LCS promoted Sam Collins. He served as offensive coordinator of the 2025 TAPPS 4A Division III state champion team.

UT Permian Basin hired previous LCS coach Chris Softley as its next head football coach in December.

Collins has 16 years of coaching experience, with a 173–35 career record, and an 83% career win percentage. He becomes the 17th head coach in program history as LCS approaches its 60th football season.

Collins is a graduate of Abilene Christian University. At ACU he was a two-time All-American, earned the DAve Rimington Award as the nation’s best center and the Gene Upshaw Award as the nation’s best overall lineman. He was also part of a Lone Star Conference Championship team, according to a release from LCS.

Collins coached offensive and defensive line over four years at Abilene Christian University. He coached football and track and field for 11 years at Denton Ryan High School.

Collins currently teaches 4th-6th grade PE and coaches high school track. His wife Casey is a first grade teacher at LCS Elementary. The LCS release states their children, Emma (6th grade) and Noah (3rd grade) are proud Eagles as well.
