A 34-year-old man was identified as the person who died Tuesday night after being shot multiple times in the parking lot of a Fort Worth motel.

Markell Shariff Smith died of a gunshot wound to the chest at 11:36 p.m. in the parking lot, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Fort Worth police responded to reports of a shooting at Central Motel at 5800 E. Lancaster Avenue around 11:18 p.m., according to a previous statement.

A man, identified as Smith, was found shot multiple times at the location, police said.

Investigators determined Smith and an unidentified man were in the parking lot when a disturbance occurred. The man then shot Smith, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
