In a twist worthy of a giallo thriller, the owner of Southtown’s La Focaccia Italian Grill hasn’t permanently shuttered his 30-year-old restaurant after all.
In a Facebook post shared roughly a week after the Jan. 31 closure of his eatery, owner Luigi “Domenic” Ciccarelli announced that what he’d first described as a permanent exit for his retirement was, in fact, just a short break.
“We recently paused operations while exploring the sale of the restaurant and, although that transaction did not move forward one thing became clear: this restaurant is home, both to us and to so many of you,” the post said. “We are excited to continue the tradition and welcome you back.”
La Focaccia began serving again this Wednesday, Ciccarelli said, thanking customers for their loyalty and support.
“You’ll find the classic Italian dishes you’ve loved for decades, the familiar atmosphere, and the warm hospitality that has always defined our restaurant,” he added.
And in case anyone wondered, the restaurant has since shared three Facebook announcements that it’s open for Valentine’s Day.
