For this Forever Families segment, Camilla and Ryder enjoyed a morning at the Tot Box Play Cafe, playing with trains, having a dance party and enjoying snacks.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Every week on KVUE Daybreak, we feature children in Texas foster care with the hope of helping them find a permanent place to call home.

Finding a forever home is a journey that starts with a single step – or, in the case of two local siblings, a morning of leaps, climbs and plenty of snacks.

Camilla and Ryder, a brother and sister duo currently in the Texas foster care system, are looking for a family to call their own. We recently spent a morning with them at the Tot Box Play Cafe in Downtown Round Rock to see their bright personalities in action.

A duo of dance and discovery

Four-year-old Camilla doesn’t just walk into a room – she dances into it. Whether she’s channeling her inner Elsa or sporting her favorite Minnie Mouse gear, her energy is infectious. A massive fan of all things “Frozen,” Camilla’s real warmth shines through her bubbly personality and her willingness to burst into song at a moment’s notice.

Right by her side is her big brother, 5-year-old Ryder. While Camilla is busy dancing, Ryder is usually on a mission. During our visit, that mission involved navigating the tracks and play structures with the focus of a true explorer. He’s a big fan of Transformers and loves sharing stories about his favorite toys. He also loves pretending to be Spider Man.

Different Interests, Same Team

Despite their different hobbies, these two are a definitive team.

Camilla, the performer, is the Elsa superfan and life of the party. Ryder, the adventurer, is the Transformers expert and protective older brother.

A morning of bubbles and big hugs

This special outing was made possible by Suzette Reynoso-Bivens and Court Bivens, the owners of Tot Box Play Cafe, who opened their doors for a morning of play. The highlights of the day included:

A bubble party, where the siblings shared laughs as they chased bubbles through the airSweet treats – Nothing beats a cake pop after a hard morning of playingBig bear hugs – Both children are incredibly affectionate and love a good snuggle

KVUE launched the Forever Families segment with Partnerships for Children (PFC) in June 2020 to highlight children in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas who need secure and permanent families. Every day, there are nearly 1,000 children waiting to get adopted in Central Texas, according to PFC.

Editor’s note: The children who are in the Heart Gallery program and featured in KVUE’s Forever Families segments are children who have had every effort made on their behalf to connect them with family or others in their community to provide options for permanent, adoptive homes. Through no fault of their own, that hasn’t happened yet, and so in partnership with the Department of Family and Protective Services, we collaborate to bring awareness to KVUE viewers about these children in the hopes of finding them permanency before they age out.
