Whether you’re looking for tiles or textiles, Dallas has two new places to shop for the details to anchor a room. TileBar and Ernesta (a rug retailer that lets you craft a rug perfectly sized to your space) recently opened their showroom doors to design enthusiasts, and not just professional ones. These stores are open to the public, too.

TileBar’s Knox-Henderson showroom is brand’s first in Texas

In January, tile and bath shop TileBar opened its first Texas showroom in the Knox-Henderson neighborhood. Dallas is one of the strongest markets for the New York-based retailer, founded in 2009. “The strength of the design community and the longstanding relationships our team has with area firms made Dallas an obvious choice as our first retail location outside of the East Coast,” says TileBar CEO Ira Melnitsky. The shop is the brand’s largest space to date.

TileBar’s products include classic materials like porcelain and marble tile, and on-trend designs like terra cotta and terrazzo. The showroom will have a full, on-site sample library, and clients can even take materials home to see how styles look in a space. Design workstations will provide room for shoppers to experiment with tile combinations, mixing and matching different styles.

Rug company Ernesta opened its first shop in the South at Preston Royal Village this month. The brand makes custom-sized rugs, down to the inch, in a variety of materials, colors and styles: from natural jute and textured wool rugs to high-pile shag rugs, low-profile flatweave designs and performance rugs.

Dallas was a natural next step for the brand’s growing retail footprint, says Jennifer Parker, Ernesta’s chief sales officer. “Opening our first Texas showroom allows us to connect with a city that has a deeply rooted design community, a strong appreciation for craftsmanship and a growing desire for highly customizable, high-quality home furnishings.”

At the newly opened 1,250-square-foot showroom, browse samples and consult on-staff experts for help with selections. “It’s a space designed to give both homeowners and professionals the chance to see, feel and experience the assortment before placing an order,” says Parker. Once the rug type is selected, it’s cut to the specific size of your space, bound and delivered in two to four weeks.
