AUSTIN, Texas — Detectives from the Austin Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect linked to multiple mail theft incidents.
The suspect, described as a Middle Eastern male between 30 to 50 years old, weighing approximately 150 pounds and standing 5’4” to 5’6” tall, has been seen approaching residences in broad daylight. He wears a glow vest, looks down at his phone, and then picks up packages before leaving, according to a press release from the department. The suspect is believed to drive a black SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Equinox, with dark rims and tint, from model years 2018 to 2022.
He was last observed wearing a black t-shirt, black athletic shorts, black slide sandals, and a green North Texas hat worn backward. The suspect also wears rectangular glasses with black rims.
