An elementary school kitchen was shuttered, and a high school kitchen was noted to have issues with rodents in the latest round of Tarrant County health inspections, according to the inspection report.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from Feb. 1 through Feb. 7 and 114 inspections.
Tarrant County public health officials inspect all restaurants in the county except for those in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.
Inspections are conducted on a 100-point scale: 100 is considered perfect, food establishments that score below 70 must undergo a follow-up inspection.
Inspectors note issues at school kitchens in Fort Worth, Saginaw
The kitchen at Hazel Harvey Peace Elementary, 7555 Trail Lake Drive in Fort Worth, had a score of 96. Inspectors closed the kitchen because the dishwasher was not operational, according to the report. Bagged lunches were distributed to students until the dishwasher could be repaired, and the kitchen was reopened after a follow-up inspection.
Inspectors noted rodent droppings and an open ceiling in the kitchen at Saginaw High School, 800 N. Blue Mound Road in Saginaw. The kitchen scored 99 on initial inspection, and the ceiling was open due to damage from the recent winter storm, according to the report.
At Mary Louise Phillips Elementary, 3020 Bigham Blvd. in Fort Worth, inspectors noted roaches in a dry food storage area, according to the report. The kitchen had an overall score of 96 on its inspection.
