SEGUIN, Texas – A suspect convicted of multiple sex crimes against children stabbed himself in the neck just after his sentencing hearing.
On Thursday, Feb. 12, in Courtroom 201 of the Guadalupe County Justice Center, 60-year-old Charles Wyatt, of Cibolo, had just been sentenced to 12 years in prison for multiple offenses, including continuous sexual abuse of a child, multiple counts of possession of child pornography, and invasive visual recordings
Just after having been sentenced, Wyatt used a makeshift knife made from plastic, stabbing himself multiple times in the neck before the bailiffs could take him into custody.
According to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, EMS transported Wyatt to Guadalupe Valley Regional Hospital. He was subsequently airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio.
Although Wyatt survived the initial injuries, his current medical status remains unknown.
Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office investigators are actively investigating the incident. Additional details will be released as they become available.
