EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The University of Texas at El Paso enrolled 24,901 students for the Spring 2026 semester – the highest spring enrollment in the University’s history and a 4.4% increase over Spring 2025, officials said.

University officials said credit hours are also up 5.2%, signaling strong course participation and persistence as the semester begins.

UTEP’s growth this spring shows that students and families see the value of a UTEP education and are persisting to get that degree,” said Heather Wilson, president of UTEP. “Education is the best path to a better life.

Undergraduate enrollment increased 5.1% overall, building on the University’s recent gains in fall 2025. New master’s enrollment is up 6.0%, underscoring sustained interest in advanced study.

UTEP also saw growth in new transfer students with enrollment up 3.1% compared to last spring.

“We are so proud that students are choosing UTEP in greater numbers. We know that college degrees are important to many career opportunities and are pleased that so many students trust the quality of UTEP degrees,” said Amanda Vasquez-Vicario, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment management. “Much of this spring’s record is due to high levels of student persistence, which is supported by our dedicated campus teams.”

The College of Nursing now enrolls 2,650 students, up 12.6% from Spring 2025, while the College of Health Sciences reached 2,040 students, an increase of 9.6%. This growth aligns with regional and national demand for healthcare professionals and highlights UTEP’s role in preparing the workforce of the Paso del Norte region.
