EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A woman was killed Tuesday evening after she was struck while trying to cross Interstate 10 in West El Paso, according to a preliminary investigation by the Special Traffic Investigation Unit.

The collision happened at 6:28 p.m. on I-10 West at Mile Marker 8.

Investigators said a 2007 Kia Spectra was driving west on I-10 when a 60-year-old woman, a Juarez, Mexico, resident, attempted to cross the westbound lanes and was hit.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but the woman died from her injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The death is the ninth traffic fatality of 2026, compared with six at this time last year.
