SAN ANTONIO – Meals on Wheels announced that starting November 3 – due to cuts in funding – meal delivery services for hundreds of clients will be suspended due to funding cuts. That’s when the Bill Miller family decided to step up.
Last Friday Bill Miller donated $192,000 to help fund the Meals on Wheels program for the next three months.
“Both Bill Miller and Meals on Wheels have a common mission in feeding the San Antonio community. We eagerly stepped in to donate to a cause that so many depend on daily,” said Jim Guy Egbert from Bill Miller.

Meals on Wheels cited a significant reduction in funding from the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) as the reason for the reduced services.
“This is one of the most difficult decisions we’ve ever had to make,” said Vinsen Faris, CEO of Meals on Wheels San Antonio. “We know how much these meals and visits mean to our clients — they provide nourishment, companionship, and safety.”
The Bill Miller donation means many seniors currently relying on the program, as well as regular wellness checks, will continue to be served.
