Ingleside — Joseph Henry Wheeler II, 80, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas following injuries sustained from a fall.
Joe was born on March 18, 1945, in Lubbock, Texas to Henry Asael (Ace) Wheeler, who preceded him in death on January 1, 1945, while serving in the military, and Billye Wheeler. Billye later married Buford L. Dulin on May 14, 1947, and Mr. Dulin became the only father Joe ever knew.
Joe was raised in West Texas and attended grade school in Denver City, Texas. In 1960, the family moved to Grape Creek in Tom Green County. He graduated from Water Valley High School in 1963 and attended San Angelo College, now Angelo State University. Joe returned briefly to Denver City where he worked in the oil field before moving to the Texas coast and beginning a long career working in refineries.
On November 22, 1969, Joe married the love of his life, Lahoma Louise Moore in Houston, Texas. Together they shared 46 years of marriage and raised two children, Trey and Kristina.
Joe retired from Koch Industries Refinery in Corpus Christi in 2001. He especially enjoyed attending the annual Richards Family Reunion for more than 40 years where he proudly served as “Col. Wheeler,” the lead auctioneer for the event.
Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Wheeler in 2015, and by his parents, Buford and Billye Dulin.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Henry “Trey” Wheeler III from Leander, Texas; his daughter, Kristina Hosking (Albert) from Ingleside, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Vales (Dana) from Lago Vista, Texas; Justin Wheeler (Imani) from San Marcos, Texas; Annabelle Hosking and Christian Hosking, both from Ingleside, Texas; 2 great-grandchildren, Riley and Noah Vales from Lago Vista, Texas; and his brothers, Buford L. (Larry) Dulin Jr. (Melissa) from Cameron, Texas; Mike Dulin (Pam) from Kilgore, Texas, and Pat Dulin (Janice) from Lindale, Texas.
