After years of work, millions spent and a few setbacks, Burchfield & Partners LLC and head partner Rodney Burchfield in 2025 welcomed the opening of an 80,000-square-foot hangar complex at Dallas Executive Airport that significantly expanded the commercial space at the southern Dallas aviation facility.
That represented the first major piece of a vision Burchfield has been pushing since 2017. Now he’s eager to bring even more development to the large, city-owned property south of State Highway 12 and west of U.S. Highway 67. Others are buying into that vision, with proposals emerging recently for a new hotel and a new private jet base at the airport.
The general aviation airport is already home to numerous business and private planes. But Burchfield estimated it could see around $200 million in new investment and become a much more impactful player in terms of private aviation and corporate flying.
Burchfield and supporters think the continued growth of Dallas Executive could be a big deal for the city’s southern sector, acting as a magnet for corporate relocations and wealthy individuals as well as bolstering the wider region’s reputation for aviation prowess.
