TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler women’s basketball moved to 16-8 overall and 12-3 in LSC play with a dominant 67-45 win over Cameron on Thursday night inside the HPC.

UT Tyler held the Aggies to just 30.4% shooting for the game and forced them into 20 turnovers in a defensive showcase.

The scoring started sluggish for both sides, and Cameron took the early momentum with a 9-3 lead over the first 3:39. Mariah Neal, Mileina Sablinskaite, and Hayley Cumming ran off on a 7-0 run to put the Patriots on top. The Aggies would answer, going on a 9-3 run of their own to take an 18-13 lead.

In the second quarter, the Patriots kicked it into gear on both sides, holding Cameron to seven points on just 15.4% shooting, and adding 16 points of their own as five different players entered the scoring category. The Patriots held the Aggies to no field goals over a 4:19 stretch, going on a 12-1 run as Neal, Sablinskaite, Leila Davis, and Polina Latysheva added contributions to help the Patriots lead 29-25 at the half.

In the third, the Patriots poured it on, shooting 50% as a team and knocking down three triples on their way to outscoring Cameron 22-12. Six players got into the scoring column, led by Davis with six and five more from Cumming as the Patriots took a 51-37 lead after three quarters.

That spark continued into the fourth, with the Patriots starting the quarter on an 8-2 run while holding the Aggies to just one made field goal over the first 6:53 of gametime. They would cap off the contest with an 8-6 run as they held the Aggies under 10 points for the second time on the night.

Four Patriots entered double figures on the day, led by Leila Davis with 12 points. She added eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. Mariah Neal scored 11 points with seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Hayley Cumming and Mileina Sablinskaite each scored 10 points, with Cumming adding seven rebounds, six assists, one block, and two steals. Sablinskaite added six rebounds and two assists.

UT Tyler scored 17 points on 20 Cameron turnovers, held a 21-11 bench point advantage, a 24-14 points in the paint advantage, and a 20-9 assist advantage.
