LUBBOCK, Texas —  Texas Tech senior Lauren Zaretsky was named the Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Thursday.

Zaretsky is the second-ever Golfer of the Week recipient, as the conference voted to move to Golfer of the Week to start this spring. It honors competition dates each week from Wednesday to Tuesday, after honoring a Golfer of the Month in previous years.

The honor marks the first in-season Big 12 accolade of Zaretsky’s career. She is the first Red Raider to earn an in-season award since teammate Klara Hurtova was named Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month for March 2025.

The senior from Toronto recorded two top-five finishes during the seven days recognized by the conference. Zaretsky tied for fifth at the Paradise Invitational, which concluded Feb. 4, and added another tie for fifth at the Thunderbird Intercollegiate, held Feb. 9-10 at Tucson Country Club.

Zaretsky shot 3-under 213 in both spring events and posted par or better in all six rounds, including four during the award window. With back-to-back top-five finishes to open the spring season, she now has three in 2025-26 and eight in her four-year career.

After opening the spring with two events in nine days, the Red Raiders are on a brief break before returning to competition March 2-3 at the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas.
