EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run involving an all-terrain vehicle and a student caught on camera outside a middle school in Far East El Paso.

According to the Socorro Independent School District, investigators are looking into an incident where an ATV hit a 9-year-old student who was riding a bike at a crosswalk during class dismissal on Wednesday at the SSG Manuel R. Puentes Middle School, located at 3216 Tim Foster Street.

Witnesses said that a crossing guard had stopped traffic when the ATV driver barreled through the crosswalk and hit the student.

Witnesses said the rider stopped briefly but then, when asked for information, sped off.

SISD officers said they are looking for the suspect.
