Everyday, cars drive over the Trinity River on the iconic Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, connecting downtown to West Dallas. But something new is taking place beneath the 400 feet of steel and cable on Feb. 28. Drivers may hear (and feel) the thrumming beats of an open-air techno called “Not Reverse.”

The event, which will take place all day and into the night, has been put together by Cross Border Warriors, an organization dedicated to building the underground techno and house culture in Dallas.

“Our event NOT REVERSE is a daytime-to-evening experience featuring high-quality curation with minimal European-inspired production and a strong community atmosphere,” said Murad Gastelum, who co-founded Cross Border Warriors with Linda Winn.

Cross Border Warriors has been producing open-air concerts in Dallas, Austin, Tampa, Las Vegas, Detroit and Juárez for almost a decade.

Gastelum shared with The Dallas Morning News what attendees should expect for this unique performance.

What was the inspiration behind this event?

The inspiration behind Not Reverse comes from three major influences, which include the underground culture of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, where Gastelum is from. Other influences include European open-air music concepts that blend architecture, art and sound, and the desire to introduce Dallas to elevated, outdoor techno events popular in cities like Amsterdam, Berlin and Tulum.

What does the planning for an event like this look like?

Planning Not Reverse is a coordinated effort. Linda Winn manages the logistics, safety plans, ADA compliance, vendor coordination, assists with lineup structuring, programming, operations alignment with CBW and overall production. Murad Gastelum oversees city approvals, partnerships, financial planning, music ARC direction, creative design, branding and communication with the City of Dallas.

What can attendees expect?

Attendees can expect a European-style, open-air techno experience with a backdrop of the Dallas skyline and bridge views. Prepare to take a full musical journey with high-fidelity sound, from warm-up sets to peak-time. There will also be food and drinks from local vendors.

Which techno artists will be playing?

The artists performing at Not Reverse include globally known artists and rising acts from Dallas, Austin and Houston. The lineup features Hunter/Game, BOg, Timelapse, Dove City, PC (MX), Stéphane B2B Jaaz’ and Alexander Chase.
