Beaumont — Doctors are treating three contractors who suffered burns Thursday night at the ExxonMobil plant in downtown Beaumont.

The call came in at about 9:45 p.m.

Three contract workers suffered burns and were taken by ambulance to a hospital. We’re told the EMS units went to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Beaumont Fire/Rescue was preparing to set up a landing zone outside the plant for a medical helicopter to land. They later changed the location to Beaumont Municipal Airport, but due to heavy fog in the area, the helicopter couldn’t fly and the patients were transported by ambulance.

KFDM reported live from ExxonMobil during our 10 p.m. newscast.

We’re checking on the circumstances surrounding the burns and the condition of the three victims.

We reached out to ExxonMobil and the company responded Thursday night:

Three contractors were injured while working at our Beaumont Complex and are receiving medical treatment.

Safety is always our top priority, and our thoughts are with the individuals and their families. A comprehensive investigation has been initiated to determine the cause.

Thank you,
