Texas A&M softball (4-1) had a strong showing its opening weekend in the Aggies Classic.

The Aggies pitched five scoreless innings against the Red Raiders but late mistakes gave the visitors from Lubbock a lead in the fifth inning after an RBI double.

Now, A&M now takes the party down south to Florida to play in the Shriner’s Children’s Clearwater Invitational and they open play against unranked Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls opened play Thursday going 1-1 with a 6-5 loss to No. 20 Georgia and a 9-5 loss to No. 12 LSU.

Last year, the Aggies had a matchup against OSU in hand taking a 5-2 lead in the seventh inning. But the Aggies defense couldn’t get get of jams and allowed four runs late for the Oklahoma State win.

After Oklahoma State, the Aggies will face No. 22 Duke next.
