Waterloo Records & Video is launching a new podcast network featuring original shows covering music, film and culture. Recorded in the sleek podcast studio at its new location, Waterloo Records Presents… will bring audiences into the store for conversations with artists, insiders and cultural leaders.
“As a brand, Waterloo Records has so much potential to cross over into media,” Waterloo Records co-owner Trey Watson said. “We knew building a podcast studio inside Waterloo would attract personalities looking to explore and hone their craft in podcasting and give musicians and guests another way to market and promote themselves alongside our stage.”

Watson said the new venture will further expand Waterloo’s brand recognition beyond Austin. The first run of seven shows premieres Friday, with episodes available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

What shows are coming to Waterloo Records Presents…?
Seven podcast shows are premiering on Waterloo Records’ new podcast network Friday.

“Everybody gets 15 minutes,” hosted by musician and longtime Waterloo employee Gus Ochoa, will feature conversations with artists who play on the store’s indoor stage.
“The Sound of Firsts,” co-hosted by DJ Mel and DJ Honeycomb, will feature guests sharing stories about various “first” experiences.
“Behind the Scrim,” hosted by audio engineer Drew Dunavan, pulls back the curtain on live production, exploring the experts who make festivals and concerts happen.

“Told Y’all,” hosted by Kelly Krause, will feature conversations with local changemakers.
“Who Said You Could Do That?” will be hosted by Darden Smith, who previously had a live podcast series at the Paramount Theatre.
“En Groove w/ Alex Marrero,” hosted by Marrero, who also presents KUTX’s show “Horizontes,” will navigate the convergence of music and culture.
“State of Sound,” hosted by Brendon Anthony, vice president of Austin-based music label Big Loud Texas, will explore aspects of the music business, including policy, distribution and marketing.

“There has always been an incredible amount of energy inside Waterloo, from artists passing through, staff conversations and fans discovering something new,” Waterloo Records co-owner Caren Kelleher said in a news release.
“With ‘Waterloo Records Presents…,’ we’re finally able to capture that energy and share it beyond the walls of the store. We take great pride in what’s happening here and in our beloved city, and this is a chance to give people in Austin and beyond a real sense of what makes this place special.”
