A sellout crowd at the White Oak Music Hall in Houston gathered like sardines to celebrate 20 years of T-Pain on Oct. 21 for the rapper’s “TP20: Celebrating 20 Years of T-Pain” tour.

“This tour is not just a celebration, it’s a thank you to everyone that was there in 2005 and to everyone now who’s just catching onto the wave,” said the multiple Grammy Award winner. “It’s for the college kids that played my records at all those parties. It’s for those same people that are now parents and are putting their kids on to what they loved so much back in those days.

“This isn’t just my story; this is our story. Because music doesn’t live in charts. It lives in people.”

The stage feature two massive Xs for 20 years with fantastic lights and production.

After a short intro, T-Pain graced us in a lime green studded suit (he had to have burned up because it was an unusually warm October night in Houston) and performed hit after hit after hit. He addressed how tough it was to put together a set list for the show. T-Pain has so many hits plus dozens of collaborations, but he did a fantastic job with it – “Bartender,” “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper),” “Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin),” “I’m Sprung,” “Good Life,” “2 Step,” “Cyclone” plus great covers of “Don’t Stop Believing,” “I’m on a Boat,” “American Woman,” “Low,” just to name a few.

Also on the show were sets by Asaka the Renegade, Armani White and Earthgang.

At the end of the 90-minute set, everyone was exhausted. Yet, it was well worth it. When we do it again, let’s do it in AC.
