Usually, when I write about driving statistics in Texas, it’s all negative. Finally, we have some positive news about driving in the Lone Star State. And by positive news, I mean the best possible news.

Corpus Christi: The Nation’s Best City for Drivers

The good news is that while the drivers here aren’t the safest, at least the roads are. According to a study by WalletHub, Corpus Christi is the best city for drivers in the entire country. Corpus ranked very well in the cost of vehicle ownership and maintenance and traffic, and infrastructure.

Other Texas Cities Making the Top 10

Corpus Christi wasn’t the only Texas city that fared well in the study. Laredo, Lubbock, Plano, and Austin were all ranked among the 10 best cities for drivers. I have to admit to being surprised Austin made the top 10. Don’t get me wrong – I love visiting our state capital, but absolutely dread driving there.

So, the next time you’re stuck in traffic, cursing the drivers around you under your breath, remember it could be much worse. You could live in Philadelphia, the city ranked worst for drivers.
