HOUSTON – The death of Texas A&M student Brianna Aguilera has been ruled a suicide by blunt trauma, according to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The ruling coincides with findings from the Austin Police Department, which investigated Aguilera’s death after she fell from a high-rise apartment last November, hours after a UT Austin-Texas A&M football game.
A toxicology test revealed Aguilera, who was 19 at the time of her death, had a blood alcohol level between 0.15% and 0.23%. It also detected traces of Delta-8 cannabinoids.
According to the report, Aguilera fell 169 feet from the balcony. It also lists the extreme injuries Aguilera suffered on impact, from her head and brain to her torso and its organs, and her legs.
In December, Austin Police revealed they had found a suicide-type note in a deleted folder on Aguilera’s computer and texts expressing self-harm to friends the day before she died.
Aguilera’s family hired Houston attorney Tony Buzbee to conduct an independent review of the investigation.
At a January press conference, Buzbee disputed police findings, calling their investigation “terrible and shoddy” and suggesting other parties were responsible for Aguilera’s death.
