HOUSTON — The University of Houston Tennis team dominated UTSA to the tune of 7-0 at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on Friday afternoon.
The Cougars (8-0) have yet to surrender a point this season and have only dropped five singles sets all year. UTSA (4-2) drops its second match of the season.
Houston opened doubles action with a dominate win on court three as juniors Elizaveta Morozova and Petja Drame defeated Celine Absawi and Laia Tarazona Peyro, 6-0.
After a back-and-forth battle on courts one and two, seniors Sophie Schouten and Chems Doha Zeghlouli were first to the finish line, defeating Natalia Castaneda and Guiliana Giardina, 6-4, to claim the doubles point.
Junior Valeriia Krokhotina was first to finish in singles as she only dropped one game to Tarazona Peyro on court six, while Zeghlouli lost just two games on court three, 6-1, 6-1
The Cougars clinched the match on court four as junior Iva Sepa defeated Aoka Nagasawa, 6-1, 6-2.
Morozova added the fifth point of the day as she defeated Absawi on court one, 6-0, 6-1.
Freshman Alexia Lavinia Puiac moved to 3-0 in her career as she took care of Castaneda, 6-3, 6-1 on court two.
Drame wrapped the match winning, 6-1, 6-4, against Giardina on court five to complete the Cougars’ second 7-0 sweep.
