A man has been sentenced to life in prison in the fatal shooting two employees at an Irving Chick-fil-A in 2024, the Dallas County district attorney’s office said Thursday.
Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, 38, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He was sentenced to life on the murder charge and an additional 20 years for each aggravated assault charge. He will serve the sentences consecutively and waived his right to appeal, court officials said.
“While no sentence can undo the profound loss suffered by these families, this resolution ensures accountability and underscores that acts of violence in our community will be met with serious consequences,” the district attorney’s office wrote in a statement.
