History

IRVING, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team swept the University of Dallas in a doubleheader. The Tornados used a late surge to overpower the University of Dallas in a 13-1 game one victory. They then run-ruled the University of Dallas with an 8-0 victory in game two.

Kylie Kirk homered & struck out nine batters in a no-hitter masterpiece in game one, while Mallory Mata tossed a one-hitter in game two at Crusader Field on Friday.

GAME ONE: W, 13-1

The Crusaders scored first with their only hit of the game in the second. CTX claimed the lead with a two-RBI double from Molly Olivarez that scored Kylie Denaro & Haley Herrera. 

Concordia would extend their lead in the sixth with a sac fly by Malarie Mican to escort Mia Post to home. In the next at bat, Denaro slapped a two-RBI double to score Herrera & Christian Everett for a 5-1 lead. CTX would end the inning with three more runs off of miscues by the Crusaders.

Denaro would collect another two RBIs in the seventh, and Kirk would put on the finishing touches when she powered a three-run shot to right center. 

GAME TWO: W, 8-0 (5 Innings)

Concordia claimed an early lead in game two with a RBI-triple down the right field line by Everett that scored Jerica Henry. In the next at bat, Harley Drouillard scored Everett to make it 2-0.

The Tornados juiced the bases in the top of the third and produced three runs to make it 6-0. Later in the fourth, Kamryn Kothman singled to the pitcher and brought home Denaro.

The eighth run would came in the top of the fifth when Mican scored Aliyah Perez as CTX recorded the final three outs for the victory.

Concordia Texas will now look to complete the series sweep in game three tomorrow. First pitch is set for 6pm.
