1 Olympic athletes — As I watch the winter Olympics, I express my gratitude to God for bringing together these remarkable, talented athletes to perform for the world. They serve as a powerful reminder that humans are all the same, regardless of our race, color, gender or religion.
Through their collective spirit of love, harmony and competition, they demonstrate that material wealth, power and status are not the ultimate priorities in life.
In this moment of global turmoil, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the Olympians for providing us with a much-needed respite from the political challenges we face in our country and the world.

2 DART — DART saved the day. With roads impassable, the Silver Line was running. Those cities who are seeking to withdraw from DART are not considering the benefits to businesses as well as residents.
Opinion
Running trains allow people to get to work, visit family members in need and even travel to the airport. Sometimes having a backup plan for driving is necessary. Senior citizens and those with disabilities rely on DART.
Plano, Irving and other cities looking to withdraw from DART ought not to be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Thank you, DART, for saving the day for so many of us!

3 The Dallas Morning News —Several recent letters allege that The Dallas Morning News is left-leaning. I must suppose that reporting straight facts might be considered as such, although over the past year I have considered canceling my subscription due to what I have perceived as an alt-right tilt.
A few adages that might be applicable here are: Truth hurts. The glass seen as half full by some might also be seen as half empty by others. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Just the facts, ma’am, just the facts.
Thank you, Dallas Morning News, for your courage to publish without fear of peril at a time when to be in conflict with the current administration could find you embroiled in a lawsuit. I applaud you, and I won’t be canceling my subscription.
