  • February 14, 2026

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – This Valentine’s Day, El Paso County couples were invited to celebrate early by getting ready for their weddings.

Friday, the El Paso County Recording Department hosted an event called “Till Death Do Us Part.”

The event was held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and couples were able to visit the Recording Department to get their marriage or civil union license.

Couples and their families were also able to take photos and enjoy some treats to celebrate their next steps in getting ready for marriage.

“Marriage is one of life’s most meaningful milestones, and our goal is to make that moment memorable, welcoming, and easy for every couple,” El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Steve Schleiker said. “Whether you love Valentine’s Day, Friday the 13th, or both, we’re excited to celebrate couples as they take this next step together and to provide excellent service on a day they’ll remember forever.”

The Clerk and Recorder’s Office said that it is important to remember that your ceremony date has to be within 35 days of getting your marriage license.
