East Texas districts canceling school photos amid Epstein concerns

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Several East Texas schools canceled school photo sessions provided by Lifetouch Photography Friday, after a former executive connected to the company was named in the Epstein files.

The districts that have canceled or changed plans for school picture sessions all reference “concerns” and “rumors” with Lifetouch Photography, a company that conducts student photography sessions.

The abrupt cancellations follow the revelation that Leon Black, the former CEO and chairman of private equity firm Apollo Global Management, was named in the recently released Epstein files. The company acquired Lifetouch when it purchased the company Shutterfly in 2019.

Here is a list of the school districts that have changed or canceled plans for student photos:

In an additional statement, Malakoff ISD said:

At Malakoff ISD, we want our families to feel comfortable and safe when their children are in front of the camera, and we want every student to have the opportunity to have their picture taken. We had several parents reach out and tell us that they did not feel comfortable with LifeTouch taking their students’ picture, so we decided our students and families would be best served by keeping all of our pictures in-house for the rest of this year, and we are looking at all of our options for the 2026-2027 school year.

Lifetouch said it has never provided images to a third party, with images only shared for school records and to allow parents and guardians to purchase them.

The documents contain no allegations that Lifetouch itself was involved in, or that student photos were used in, any illicit activities.

“Lifetouch is not named in the Epstein files,” CEO Ken Murphy said in a statement on Lifetouch’s website. “The documents contain no allegations that Lifetouch itself was involved in, or that student photos were used in, any illicit activities.”
