CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 1 Texas Tech improved to 9-0 on the season after taking down No. 23 FAU by a score of 8-0 in five innings on Friday night.
Desirae Spearman notched her first home run of the season and NiJaree Canady improved to 4-0 on the year after throwing 5.0 shutout innings with seven strikeouts and allowing just two hits.
Jackie Lis had another big at bat for the Red Raiders, hitting a two-RBI single in the third inning to push Tech’s lead to 4-0.
Lauren Allred also had a big night, going 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and adding another RBI on a ground out to short which made the score 8-0.
Mia Williams had a double and a great double play at second base, making a diving catch before flipping the ball to first base to end the inning.
Spearman went 1-for-1 with a three-run blast in the third inning as part of a five-run inning to break open the game and push Tech’s lead to 7-0.
Canady was in full command of the strike zone again today, tossing seven strikeouts in just five innings as she dropped her ERA down to 0.97 on the year.
