A collision between an 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle left one person dead early Saturday morning on I-35 in south Travis County, police said.

The Austin Police Department received a call at 4:19 a.m. reporting the crash on the 13000 block of the southbound I-35 frontage road near FM 1327.

One person was killed in the collision, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Investigators remained on scene Saturday morning. The roadway is expected to reopen within a few hours, police said.

The Texas Department of Transportation confirmed the commercial vehicle collision at 4:23 a.m. and said all three lanes were closed, as well as both shoulders.

Austin police asked motorists to find an alternate route if possible.
