Thousands of homes are without power Saturday afternoon following a severe thunderstorm that swept across North Texas.

As of 3:30 p.m., Oncor’s outage map showed power is out to about 2,500 customers in Dallas County, 1,600 in Collin County and 600 people in Tarrant County.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of southeastern Dallas County Saturday afternoon, with storms capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and hail up to penny size, officials said.

“Oncor is monitoring a storm system moving across parts of the service area,” a weather watch message on Oncor’s website said. “Resources are available and will be working to restore power as needed in these areas. Localized flooding in some areas may cause delays for restoration resources. We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power.”
