GRANBURY – Sadie Merle Shaw, 88, a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), sister and aunt went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at her daughter’s home after battling Alzheimer’s. There will be a private burial and no public celebration of life as those who spent time with her celebrated her life for decades. Merle was born in Meridian, Mississippi on July 9, 1937, to Frank and Lillian Giles. In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s she worked at Montgomery Ward. She retired from her in-home childcare business after 27 years. She enjoyed spending time with close family, going to eat at restaurants, the movies, shopping, and watching the Texas Rangers. She also enjoyed working in the garden and listening to gospel music. Merle was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Burrell Shaw; grandson, Tanner Shaw; her parents Frank and Lillian Giles; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gayle and Joyce Givens; and multiple siblings. She is survived by her children, Debbie Giles, Jeff Shaw, and Traci Shaw; and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff of Four Pillars Hospice who treated Merle with kindness and respect during the last few months of her life.
