MCKINNEY – Don Kendall Baucum passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026 at the age of 91. Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in the Breyley Room at Mount Olivet Chapel. Funeral: 2:30 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Born November 30, 1934, in O’Donnell, Texas to Weaver H. and Lola Mae Montgomery Baucum, Don graduated from Anson High School and then began his working life selling Ford tractors in Plainview, Texas. Don built a long and respected career in the heavy equipment industry, serving for many years as a salesman and sales manager for Kirkpatrick & O’Donnell, the Link-Belt Crane dealer in Irving, Texas. He later worked with Holloway Crane Service before continuing independently as an equipment broker with Baucum Equipment. Don remained professionally active well into his mid-80s, retiring only after decades of dedicated work marked by integrity, diligence, and strong relationships. Don met the love of his life, Margie Marie Cox during his time in Plainview, and together they embarked on a devoted marriage that spanned 66 years until Margie’s passing on July 19, 2025. Following the birth of their only son, Bruce Kendall Baucum, Don and Margie moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where they made their home for the next 58 years. Don and Margie were longtime members of Rockwood Park Assembly of God Church, which later became Fossil Creek Community Church and is now Mission City Church in Fort Worth. Don faithfully served the church on the Church Board and Building Committee, contributing both his leadership and practical expertise. Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie Baucum; parents, Weaver H. and Lola Mae Montgomery Baucum; sister, Ann Parkinson and brother, Denton Baucum. He is survived by his son, Bruce Baucum and wife, Lori Baucum of McKinney, Texas; granddaughters Ashley Stubbe and husband Dylan Stubbe of Spring, Texas, Ashton Daniels of Northlake, Texas, Kylee Taylor of McKinney, Texas; grandsons Zach Baucum of Fort Worth, Texas, Easton Taylor of McKinney, Texas; sister, Janice Sessums and husband Lewis Sessums of Lubbock, Texas; and great-grandsons, Hudson Lee Stubbe and Hogan Kendall Stubbe of Spring, Texas. Don will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant, and hardworking man whose life reflected quiet strength, loyalty, and commitment to family and faith.
