SAN ANTONIO – A chance meeting at San Antonio International Airport has turned into a yearlong love story — and airport staff recently helped the couple celebrate where it all began.

According to the airport, Moriah and Mario first met at SAT, and he later officially asked her to be his girlfriend while dropping her off for a flight. To mark their first anniversary and Valentine’s Day, the SAT team created a special date-night experience for the couple airside.

The celebration included a meal from La Gloria, live music, and access to a Southwest Airlines plane — the carrier the couple was traveling on when their story first began — along with airline-themed goodies. The airport also described a sunset serenade and picnic on the airfield, plus a special tour aboard Southwest.

“Our SAT Cupids have struck again!” the airport said in a social media post announcing the surprise.

Airport officials said the moment is a reminder that airports are not only places for travel, but also settings for real-life milestones — hellos, goodbyes, reunions, and new beginnings.
