SHERMAN, Texas — Kidus Getenet scored 24 points to lead Austin College to a 76-70 victory over Schreiner University in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action Friday afternoon.

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Mountaineers (11-12, 8-6 SCAC), who dropped their second consecutive road contest in the SCAC Gold Division. Despite the setback, Schreiner maintains a one-game lead over Colorado College for third place in the division standings.

Austin (8-15, 5-9) built a 45-35 halftime advantage and held off multiple Schreiner rallies in the second half. The ‘Roos shot 42.7% from the field (32-of-75) compared to 35.3% (24-of-68) for the Mountaineers. Austin controlled the boards with a 52-44 rebounding edge, led by Jordan Hudgins’ 11 rebounds to go with 11 points.

Dylan Snow paced Schreiner with 19 points and six assists while playing a team-high 33 minutes. Camden Hyman added 12 points and four rebounds off the bench, while Carson Diamond contributed 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting before fouling out.

Schreiner struggled from three-point range, connecting on just 6-of-27 attempts (22.2%). Mario Johnson had five points and 14 rebounds, adding three assists and three blocks. Justin Gooden scored nine points despite shooting just 1-of-10 from the field, making 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Getenet shot 10-of-19 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds for Austin. Ethan Pearce added 12 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and five blocks. Tasshir Pina-Warren also scored 12 points off the bench.

Schreiner shot 72.7% from the free-throw line (16-of-22) while Austin struggled at the stripe, converting just 26.7 percent (4-of-15). The Mountaineers also held an 11-6 edge in blocked shots, led by Nick Nuedorfer’s two blocks.

The Mountaineers return home to conclude their regular season with a two-game homestand, hosting Texas Lutheran Friday at 5:30 p.m. before Senior Night against Concordia (Texas) on Sunday at noon. Attendance at Hughey Gym was 207.
