No. 1 Red Raider softball improves to 11-0 with 5-0 win over JMU

  • February 15, 2026

CLEARWATER, Fla. (KCBD) – The No. 1 Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-0) posted their third shutout of the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational as they held off James Madison for the 5-0 win Saturday in Florida. The victory comes hours after beating North Carolina State 14-1.

Samantha Lincoln pitched five complete innings with no earned runs and two strikeouts. Kaitlyn Terry fanned five JMU batters in her two innings on the hill.

In the first inning, Mihyia Davis scored off a fielding error when Desirae Spearman grounded to short. That 1-0 lead held until the fifth inning when Mia Williams and Spearman brought Terry and Davis home to give Tech a 3-0 lead. During the next inning, a single from Williams brought Makayla Garcia and Terry home for the final two runs of the game.

The Red Raiders conclude the tournament Sunday and will take on Nebraska, a team they came back to beat last year in this same tournament. First pitch set for 2 p.m. CT.
